This has been a big year for me. Aside from the birth of my first daughter (ok technically within the past year), I finally decided to give up my PC habit. It was hard. I loved my PC so much. In fact, I think I was practically the only person in Los Angeles who ever defended them, in fact I loved antagonizing everyone I could down there with how PCs were better. And I am a graphic designer, but I swore to it. I even was giving Sony Vegas (a video editing program) a lot of my time.
The past couple days I have been getting a little bit into the internet again. This time it is Wordpress. I have been trying to get a little bit more savvy on it and find it really exciting to do. After eight months off of the interenet for the most part working on my new album in the mountains here in Costa Rica, I had a need to get online more and attempt to communicate and generate income.
While it is kind of a whole new way of doing the web then what I had been doing, I can really see the power of it.
The databases are taking over.
What I have been working on mostly is the website CostaRicanWeddingPhotos.com with my new partner Maria-Jose Sanchez. Check it out and if you have a need of photography let us know. E-Mail Travis

Elisabetta Rogiani New York Fashion Show 2008 by NIO on Mixcloud
This is a mix I did that’s pretty minimal I did for Elisabeta Rogiani’s fashion show in New York in 2008.
One of the best things about living in Costa Rica is the wide variety of micro-climates which exist here. While I live technically in what is known as the Central Valley of Costa Rica, the reality is that Turrialba is just on the edge of the Atlantic Lowlands heading into Limon, Cahuita, Puerto Viejo on into Sixaola to continue to the frontier with Panama.
After three weeks in Europe with family, one amazing wedding in Sitio Mata, near Turrialba. I decided I needed to continue my openness to the world and needed to travel. So I set off with Marcia & Maya to the beach. We left pretty early and got there in about three hours stopping along the way. It was a rare nearly cloudless day and the Caribbean beach was an amazing site to see. Heading towards Guapiles on the “highway” from Turrialba the views of the Turrialba Volcano were astounding. I stopped along the way and found a lovely property for sale 45 acres for $180,000 with an incredible view of the volcano right on the main road and a small Caribbean wooden plantation home and 30 head of cattle. I spoke with the owner. I love the idea of it, but don’t have the income to support it now, would love to have someone I know buy it.
After traveling in Europe, we were much more relaxed with our seven month old on the road, she was such a trooper on the planes, not crying even once all 40 hours there and back, it was really quite astounding.
Today was a rare day. I made music with an actual human being in Brussels, Belgium. It’d been a while. Last time was, gosh, it’s pathetic, but I really think it was in June with a rapper from Turrialba named Danny. Well, this is not really true, my six month old daughter plays with me sometimes, but when you are immobile and have know choice where you are it’s not counting completely.
The technology was starting to get in the way. It has been snowing in Belgium this past week, as it has been heavily reported. As a result he had all of his gear sitting still at a bar from his gig the previous Friday evening. Luckily I had experience of not having enough gear so I had brought my Firebox Presonus Firewire Card, my 1/8″ jack to 1/4″ stereo splitter (ended up being key to the collaboration) a microphone and many other cables, my 3 korg nano controllers for sliding, piano & beats, and my Kore 2 Controller.
Gael, aka, Hand Job Noizetalgik, usually plays with all analogue devices but we routed in Ableton Live his computer into my Live rig and I added a send to his in, took a little while to figure it out because I usually use my MOTU Ultralite in the studio and only DJ with my Firebox, and don’t usually use anything but my
Will upload (well, link, just discovered a 10mb upload limitation in the ini.php or was it php.ini file, seems to be site-wide, tried to work around by uploading the 60mb file into the same directory of the woman who likes mayonnaise on her burger and Wordpress doesn’t seem to recognize it. I love technology!
It’s hard to believe that what seems to essentially be a tax on poor people by requiring them to buy unregulated insurance is being called “health care reform”. What a lost opportunity for the United States. It appears that there is no regulations controlling costs and they are going to force people to pay for overpriced undercoverd insurance. What a loss when something truly interesting could have been done
